This year’s annual conference will be hosted by The University of Liverpool.  We are very much looking forward to welcoming all of the biomaterials community to the city and hosting the conference dinner in the iconic Liver Buildings, where we host with legendary scouse hospitality..

The call for abstracts for this year’s UKSB is now open. Abstract submission will close of Friday 5th April at 17:00. Please use the abstract template (available with this link) and submit your abstract to uksb2024@liverpool.ac.uk.

Abstract submissions are invited for oral, rapid-fire and poster presentations in any area of biomaterials and related research.  We strongly encourage abstracts from postgraduate students and early career researchers (ECR).  The UKSB prides itself of providing a supportive and engaging environment for the exchange of ideas through interactions with peers, leaders in the field and our industrial sponsors.

Invited Speakers

We have secured a range of invited speakers showcasing existing and emerging research areas and talent that make the UK Biomaterials community an international network of excellence.

We will be awarding prizes for the best postgraduate poster, rapid-fire and oral presentations (please highlight that you are a PhD student and eligible for consideration in your abstract submission). We will also be showcasing emergent talent through The Larry Hench Award and celebrating outstanding contributions to the Biomaterials field trough The Presidents Prize.  We will also be recognising and celebrating an individual researcher who has contributed significantly to the field of biomaterials science in dentistry (including maxilla-facial repair) through the Alan Wilson Memorial Prize.

The Larry Hench Young Investigators Award

The Larry Hench Young Investigators Award was established in memory of Professor Larry Hench (1938-2015) and is awarded to an emerging research scientist in recognition of outstanding and innovative contributions to a selected area of biomaterials.  If you are interested in applying for The Larry Hench Award full details can be found here.  Deadline for submission is 5th April and should be submitted to the uksb2024@liverpool.ac.uk email address with Larry Hench Application in the title.

Session Co-chairs and Judging Panel Opportunities

To support the integration and networking of PhD students and Early Career Researchers, we will be posting calls for session co-chairs and members of judging panels, who contribute to the smooth running of the conference proceedings (Keep an eye on the UKSB Twitter page and emails for updates).
